Ms. Alessandra Vellucci, a national of Italy, has spent her entire career serving the United Nations. She is currently Chief of the Intergovernmental Support Service of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), where she is in charge of the organization’s intergovernmental machinery and serves as Secretary of the Trade and Development Board. Prior to joining UNCTAD she served as the Chief of the Press and External Relations Section of the United Nations Information Service Office in Geneva. In this role she has supported Member States, journalists, NGO representatives, and the public at large in the organization of high-level events and press conferences.
She has also provided support on media-related aspects of ECOSOC, the Conference on Disarmament, the Human Rights Council and the Human Rights Committees. Before joining UNOG, Ms. Vellucci worked for UNCTAD in several progressively responsible positions for nearly 20 years. Moreover, Ms. Vellucci participated in the organization of several ministerial conferences such as UNCTAD VIII, IX and X, and the Geneva Conferences on Syria I and II. Ms. Vellucci holds a post-graduate Master’s degree in international relations from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva and speaks English, French, Spanish and Italian.
