Dr. Vitalijs Butenko joined the Chair of Negotiation and Conflict Management (NECOM ETH Zurich), led by Prof. Dr. Michael Ambühl, in September 2013. He specializes in development of master courses, seminars and workshops on negotiation, and design of new negotiation role plays. Before joining the group of Prof. Ambühl, Vitalijs wrote a doctoral dissertation on democratic decision-making at the Center of Economic Research at ETH Zurich. Vitalijs holds a MSc degree in Telecommunications from the Riga Technical University (RTU), and a MSc degree in Communication Systems from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). He also spent an exchange semester at Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (KTH) and contributed to the multilateral negotiations on the topic of cognitive radio technology at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva. From 2010 to 2012 Vitalijs held president’s office of the Academic Association of the Scientific Staff at ETH Zurich.
